DoSomething.org and Aéropostale, Inc. (NYSE: ARO) celebrated the kick-off of the 5thAnnual ‘Teens for Jeans’ campaign on Tuesday, January 10th with the help of some of today’s hottestcelebrities.
Hosted by Kristen Bell, the event was held at Palihouse in West Hollywood. Also on hand to walk the denim carpet and support was Damien Fahey (MTV VJ), Chris Galya (Jesse), Julianne Hough (Footloose),Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty), Josie Loren (Make It or Break It), Brendan Robinson (Pretty Little Liars), Julianna Rose (Lazy Town), Jake Short (Shorts), BooBoo Stewart (The Twilight Saga), Fivel Stewart (Logan), Billy Unger(Lab Rats), Michael Yo (E! Personality) and more.
During the event, celebrities and teen supporters packed up jeans that were donated to a local L.A. area homeless shelter along with letters, photos and videos with words of encouragement.
To kick off this year’s campaign, Aéropostale donated 1,000 brand new pairs of jeans to be packed up during the event in addition to the 10,000 brand new pairs of jeans that they are donating to youth shelters around the U.S.
‘Teens for Jeans’ urges teens to help provide the number one item requested by homeless youth at shelters: jeans. Throughout the campaign, people can donate their gently worn jeans at anyAéropostale or P.S. from Aéropostale store. To say thanks, Aéropostale will give an additional 25% off a new pair of jeans. All jeans donated will be distributed to local shelters throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Schools are also encouraged to participate by running a jeans drive at their school. The school that collects the most jeans will win $5,000 and new Aero jeans for every student. To date, Teens for Jeans has collected and donated over 1.5 million jeans to homeless teens. This year’s campaign runs January 16th to February 12th.
