5. After hitting the Amazon's Bestseller List, your novel has attracted attention in Hollywood (congrats!). Can you tell us a little bit about the upcoming movie adaptation? Did you have any say in choosing the cast?
Well to be honest, the screenplay I drafted up with my buddy Todd Gordon did that before the book. Casting? I have a lot to say about casting as… I’ll be directing the movie version! The whole story revolves around my jump from directing short films to feature films. I was looking at who I would want to play Aaron Stevens in the movie version and Booboo Stewart from Twilight was perfect. Luckily, he agreed to read the script and he loved it!

Gil Birmingham's Crooked Arrows Reviews
NY Times-
By DANIEL M. GOLD

A reluctant new coach faces the challenge of leading a team of unhappy youths to a championship. On the way, setbacks are encountered and eventually overcome, and everyone, from the coach to the star to the last guy on the bench, learns something. Wouldn’t it be great if “Crooked Arrows,” a new movie about a Native American lacrosse team that takes on the prep school snobs, upended sports movie convention?

Vancouver Sun-

The actors bear their narrative fate with a brave face and a patient smile, with Routh providing some sharp comic punctuation with artfully delivered sarcasm. The rest of the cast doesn't get enough dialogue to work around the hackneyed sentiments and cliched moments, but you can tell it's not their fault.
Even the most painful moments, including the scenes featuring a Yoda-like granny – complete with wooden walking stick and backward syntax – were obviously scripted with noble intent.
And in the end, it's these intangible forces that rescue the movie from a puddle of propagandist impulse and leaden drama. There is something fundamentally moving about people using sport to recreate themselves, their culture or their community.

MOVIE GUY 24/7
Created on Sunday, 27 May 2012 16:12 Written by George Rother
After a succession of crappy early summer movies, it's like a breath of fresh air watching something as genuinely entertaining as Crooked Arrows, a sports drama about a Native American lacrosse team and the new coach who takes them out of last place and puts them on the path to the championship game. Yep, it's the ever popular underdog scenario that has defined countless sports dramas (Remember the Titans) and comedies (The Bad News Bears)! But in this case, director Steve Rash (Under the Rainbow) brings a little something different to the table, he combines a routine sports drama with a history lesson about the game of lacrosse. If this sounds slightly familiar, then you must be one of the ten people who saw last year's forgettable A Warrior's Heart which addresses this very same subject. To summarize, the game originated among the six nations of the Iroquois confederacy and it dates back about 1000 years. Now it's one of the most popular sports in the country. Undoubtedly, this means that we're bound to see many lacrosse-themed movies hit the multiplexes in the near future. After all, you can only make so many movies about baseball, football and hockey, right?

MTV Reveals more of Taylor Lautner's Grown Ups 2 Role
From MTV:
During our Sneak Peek Week presentation with the “That’s My Boy” cast, Milo Ventimiglia spoke about his upcoming work on “Grown Ups 2,” the upcoming follow-up to Adam Sandler’s most successful comedy to date. The actor, sporting a bleach-blond hairdo, insisted that he’s not “just blond because I took up volleyball” but because he’s about to bro down with Sandler and the artist occasionally known as Jacob Black.
Taylor Lautner's foray into comedy for Grown Ups 2 promises to be a "fun" role, and today a new detail about what exactly his part in the film will entail has been unveiled.
According to MTV, Lautner's co-star Milo Ventimiglia spilled that the two will be appearing together in the film as college frat boys. "We're playing fraternity brothers. I haven't started - I'm heading out the day after tomorrow - but I met him. He's a sweet kid. A very, very nice guy," he explained.

Boo Boo Stewart (5-L) Boys of Summer Concert series
This past weekend-
A concert featuring three former teen idol singers from the 2000s — Ryan Cabrera, Aaron Carter and Greg Raposo — would be interesting enough. But the Boys of Summer show has added the group 5-L, made up of Booboo Stewart and his sister, Fivel (pronounced "5-L").
Stewart is an actor with many credits, but none as high profile as werewolf Seth Clearwater in the "Twilight" films. He is featured prominently in the final movie, to be released in November.
Of course, the others are no slouches. Cabrera was a top teen heartthrob in 2004, with Top 10 pop hits "On the Way Down" and "True." Carter was the dominant idol a decade ago as 13-year-old singer of "That's How I Beat Shaq." And Raposo was in the boy band Dream Street.
