Julia Jones Returns to Boston to promote BD DVD

Julia Jones, who grew up in Jamaica Plain, returned to Boston recently to promote a DVD for "Twilight," in which she plays Leah Clearwater.

A local actor who is making it big in Hollywood came home to Boston recently.

Julia Jones, who grew up in JP, was in the city to promote a DVD of "The Twilight Saga — Breaking Dawn, Part I."

She made the press rounds, telling the Globe she hopes to stay in movies, though she has enjoyed her television roles, such as Dr. Kaya Montoya in the final season of "ER."

She told the Herald that Boston Latin was harder than Columbia University, and that though she lives in L.A. she'll never be a Lakers fan. Speaking of her college education, she told Improper Bostonian that her English degree has been quite useful in analyzing characters she's asked to play.

The Boston Latin grad (above), who has been in the “Twilight’’ world ever since she was cast as the only female werewolf in the franchise, told us yesterday during an interview at the Liberty Hotel that the vampire movies are still a huge part of her life, even though she finished filming both parts of “Breaking Dawn’’ last April. After this DVD release, she and the rest of the cast (including Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson) will begin to hype “Breaking Dawn - Part 2,’’ which comes out this fall. And after all these years, the fans are no less interested in her sad character, the brooding Leah Clearwater.

I made this character up a long time ago. It’s called Millennium Man. It was just a hobby and just for fun. Let’s see what happens with it, it’s almost all done. We’ll see if it gets released or not.

So, if you could be any comic book superhero, who would you be?
That’s a good one. My favorite is Nightcrawler, but I wouldn’t want to be him. He has a pretty hard life. I’d want to be one that looked normal, but had a really cool power. I’d want to be Superman.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen a Twilight fan do?
A girl got my name tattooed on her wrist.
Your character’s name or your actual name?
My actual name.
The werewolves are running around without shirts all the time. How do you guys stay warm when you’re filming? It’s not shot in a warm climate.
It’s freezing cold. Most of the time I have sleeveless shirts on. For the sleeveless shirts, they have an extra layer underneath that’s cut smaller so you can't see it. And we have hand-warmers! But they make it so it’s sticky ones so you can stick it all over your body. That keeps up really warm. Besides that, we are putting pants on between takes, and jackets, scarves. But when you have your shirt off – well, there’s nothing you can do about it.
Did you do your own stunt work in the films?
Because when we fight, we turn into wolves, we didn’t get to do anything really. We did have to do voice-overs for the wolves – funny growls. It was kind of embarrassing.
"Breaking Dawn, Part 1" you did the wolf voices or internal monologues. How was that?
It was really cool. I was wondering how they were going to do this – for people who weren’t fans of the books it might be really confusing. I think they did it really well – they didn’t make it sound exactly how we do.
We did one version like a regular voice. Another version, we talked as low as we could. In another, we had to use growling voices. And then, they just mixed it all together and made it sound really cool.

Booboo Stewart was announced to star in the Horror/ Thiller "House of the Dammed 3D"

Storyline:
Five friends band together to save the historic part of their town and inadvertently become targets of a serial killer after uncovering the truth behind a series of grisly murders that went unsolved ... Until now!

Filming is set to begin late March in Baton Rouge and Clinton Louisiana.

Another reason to be excited about the production is that they are using 3ality Technica rigs to shoot the horror film in native 3D.

One of the producers, Ethan Terra said: "With House of the Damned 3D our goal is to cross utilize the 3D to submerge the audience so they feel like they are apart of the movie, and of course to pull off some really cool in depth 3D effects. Because this film is controlled by an independent studio we have more creative control over what we can and can not do, and this film is aimed right at the horror fan in all of us."

The Producers: Michael George, David Forbes, Ethan Terra, Nick Smith, and John Sweeney are currently locking cast and in talks with the Legendary Japanese Director Takashi Miike.

All the remaining details of the film are being held strictly confidential to the production, so much in fact that they have circulated various screenplays to the talent and agents so that nobody knows how the actual film ends or which character is the killer....

Gil Birmingham Plays Ethan’s Dad, Ben Whitehorse!

Birmingham! You may recognize him as Taylor Lautner’s on-screen dad, Billy Black, but now he’s trading the Volturi for Alec. And we’re not sure who’s scarier!

What can you tell us about your role as Ethan’s father?
Gil Birmingham: Ben Whitehorse is a great character for an actor to play. He’s very complex and multifaceted, with many dimensions.

Sounds exciting. Why doesn’t Ben live with Ethan?
Gil Birmingham: Without giving too much of the show away, Ethan has a strained relationship with his father. Ben Whitehorse harbors some resentment toward Ethan for his past delinquent behavior and for Ben’s wife leaving.

Where is Ethan’s mother now?
Gil Birmingham: She walked out on Ben, and he remains bitter over her leaving.

Why does Ethan find his father?
Gil Birmingham: Again, I don’t want to spoil the plot, but Ethan ends up running from the law and hides out on his father’s ranch.

What’s Blair and Alexandra’s chemistry like off-screen? What’s the overall vibe on set?
Gil Birmingham: They get along well and enjoy each other’s company. If you think Alexandra is adorable on-screen, she’s even more joyful off-screen. Alex is a rascal, very witty, and expressive. On-screen Blair is a major heartthrob, and off-screen he’s very genuine and grounded. I’ve enjoyed working with both of them. The set is very relaxing, professional and warm. Everyone is welcoming and embracing. The crew really takes care of you, which I appreciate. There were some incredible set designs, and fans will really enjoy the cinematic quality of several of the scenes that we do together. It’s a great set to work on.

Who’s the better on-screen son: Ethan or Jacob?
Gil Birmingham: Both are so completely different so it’s hard to compare. Yet both are similar in that a father is trying to connect with his son in a way that makes the son feel understood and loved. I enjoy exploring the dynamic with Ethan on-screen. I think Ben and Ethan are a lot alike in many ways, which is where some of the conflict is developed. I look forward to exploring the chemistry further, delving into what is straining the father-son relationship and can it be healed.

Is anyone on The Lying Game cast a majorTwi-Hard?
Gil Birmingham: Not that they’ve confessed to me. The show is the “Lying Game,” so I suspect there are several who are keeping their true Twi-Hard identities a secret.

IN an effort to cut down on piracy the Bill implements a scorched earth policy!

More about SOPA and PIPA

Members of Congress are trying to do the right thing by going after pirates and counterfeiters but SOPA and PIPA are the wrong way to do it.

1. SOPA and PIPA would censor the Web

The U.S. government could order the blocking of sites using methods similar to those employed by China. Among other things, search engines could be forced to delete entire websites from their search results. That’s why 41 human rights organizations and 110 prominent law professors have expressed grave concerns about the bills.

2. SOPA and PIPA would be job-killers because they would create a new era of uncertainty for American business

Law-abiding U.S. internet companies would have to monitor everything users link to or upload or face the risk of time-consuming litigation. That’s why AOL, EBay, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Mozilla, Twitter, Yahoo and Zynga wrote a letter to Congress saying these bills “pose a serious risk to our industry’s continued track record of innovation and job-creation.” It’s also why 55 of America’s most successful venture capitalists expressed concern that PIPA “would stifle investment in Internet services, throttle innovation, and hurt American competitiveness”. More than 204 entrepreneurs told Congress that PIPA and SOPA would “hurt economic growth and chill innovation”.

3. SOPA and PIPA wouldn’t stop piracy

To make matters worse, SOPA and PIPA won’t even work. The censorship regulations written into these bills won’t shut down pirate sites. These sites will just change their addresses and continue their criminal activities, while law-abiding companies will suffer high penalties for breaches they can’t possibly control.

There are effective ways to combat foreign “rogue” websites dedicated to copyright infringement and trademark counterfeiting, while preserving the innovation and dynamism that have made the Internet such an important driver of American economic growth and job creation. Congress should consider alternatives like the OPEN Act, which takes targeted and focused steps to cut off the money supply from foreign pirate sites without making US companies censor the Web.

It’s the second time Jones has helped Quileute. In December 2010, she was guest of honor at the annual “Cherish our Children” event in La Push. ...I have not heard of Taylor endorsing this or claiming to have used this "plan" but it's a pretty good plan!

When it came time for Taylor Lautner to build up his muscle power and looks for his movie role in the Twilight series he simply did not wish it and the make up artists could not provide him with a costume of muscle. He had to earn it and do it himself. He took on a plan of action to gain 30 pounds of muscle for his role and of course wanted to do it the right way. He pulled it off without a hitch. He began a program of nutrition and exercise to put on the muscle. It was a difficult task because he is not a large individual and has a small build. The program he used was not especially developed for him. The Taylor Lautner Workout that would get him physically ready for his role in the movie, is actually a very common workout used by many Hollywood stars when they need to bulk up and get ripped.

The Taylor Lautner workout regimen looked like this.

The first task of the Taylor Lautner workout routine was to carry around extra weight. As a matter of fact he had to push the limits for using extra weight during his workout. His approach was to carry 40% more weight than he could if doing 10 reps without struggling with the weight. For example, if you can lift 100 pounds of weight 10 times without struggling then you should be lifting 140 pounds of weight for this intense workout program. That is exactly what Taylor Lautner did to beef up his muscle. The Taylor Lautner workout regimen is much more then this, but still anyone can easily accomplish it.

The next step of the Taylor Lautner workout routine.

The next step in this process was to put variety into the Taylor Lautner workout program with different weights and repetitions. Not only does this help to deal with the boredom of the routine but also adds variety into the weight and reps factor. Tension was also used to create more stress and a better workout for Taylor. By using rubber bands and the power of tension the workout plan was more intense and helped to build more muscle more quickly.

The last thing to take into consideration is to cut back on the cardio work and the abs work. This will develop naturally as you workout with weights and tension. Take advantage of the weights and work hard at building muscle. This was the goal of the Taylor Lautner workout to ensure he would look the part for the movie role. Obviously, the way that the Taylor Lautner workout routine was designed and implemented was a big part of him getting so ripped.
There’s a much easier way to achieve similar results to the Taylor Lautner workout and you don’t even need a personal trainer. However, like I hinted at earlier, you need the same routine that most Hollywood stars use when they are looking to get ripped. Stars like Ryan Reynolds and Christian Bale also use this specific Hollywood workout. The Taylor Lautner workout routine is really this exercise regimen.

Taylor Lautner Workout #2 – Vary volume – It’s true that your body needs to get used to more weight in order to build muscle but going for a heavier weight is not always the best idea. In order to maximize your gains, the Taylor Lautner workout teaches you to regularly your vary reps, and weights.

Taylor Lautner Workout #3 – Create some tension – If you’re looking to emulate Taylor Lautner’s workout, free weights are highly favored but there are definitely some drawbacks to these. For starters, there are some parts to a lift that are easier to do than others so muscles are not worked evenly through the whole range of motion.

Taylor Lautner Workout #4 – Cut back on the cardio – people have relied on cardio for years to burn fat. However, you may end up losing more weight if you exercise too hard, which is a bad thing if you don’t exactly build muscle mass easily.

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — An exhibit of 23 Quileute artworks intended to debunk the tall tales of tribal heritage told in the Twilight saga, will open at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian this week.
"Behind the Scenes: The Real Story of the Quileute Wolves" will open in the Sealaska Gallery on the National Mall at Fourth Street and Independence Avenue SW in Washington, D.C., Friday and be on view through May 9.
During the exhibition's opening weekend, Chris Morganroth III, Quileute tribal member and one of only two fluent speakers left in the tribe, will tell traditional stories for children and families in the museum's imagiNATIONS Activity Center and present Quileute culture and stories in the Rasmuson Theater during the Native Storytelling Festival.
The exhibition was organized by the Quileute tribe and the Seattle Art Museum, where it was on view for one year, beginning in August 2010.
The exhibit brings together rare works of Quileute art as a counterpoint to the supernatural storyline depicted in the popular Twilight books and movies.
Wolves are an important part of Quileute legend.

But werewolves — as depicted in Stephenie Meyer's popular daydream set on the West End — never were part of the LaPush tribe's heritage."

Fox is developing the movie Incarceron, a film adaptation of Catherine Fisher's fantasy and science-fiction novel of the same name. The story about a young man who tried to escape a prison set in a dystopian world. Scriptwriters Adam Cooper and Bill Collage have been hired to pen the screenplay,John Palermo as producer but there's no director yet. Taylor Lautner has the lead role as Finn.

Now for tips I learned doing this!

I recommend using already clear glue.

Don't use Glitter! 1. It will "travel" with the glue. 2 The Color will run. 3. It will clump unevenly 4. I twill bulge in places!.

It was spraying on clear coating that made every thing run!!

As you can see from the above pics of the reverse side of the dog tags ..somethings worked better than others. Here are some tips-
*Don't use glue that just "drys clear" (you can see they do not)
*Don't use any spray schlack, glue, sealant until everything is under glue and dry or it will run!
*Don't use glitter except for a sprinkle effect and use little of it.
*Shaped Confetti works really well.
*Write on the Confetti piece and let it dry
*Don't touch it with glue on your fingers the prints will be preserved under the glue!
*Bobbles do really well .
*Stickers do really well
*cut out cards work really well
*sticker or iron bits found in the scrape book section of walmart all work well!

You'll need something to poke a hole through the paper I used a screwdriver.


Create a background out of colorful paper, cards stickers etc.


Even with a plain white background works with the right choice of findings!


Twilight Card, 2 confetti hearts and beads glued down and covered with clear glue!

Use toothpicks to hold the tag off your working space. cover it all with clear glue thickly! Wait a few minutes and put a toothpick inside the hole to keep it open!

But luckily, there’s just enough time left for us to recap the biggest moments of the year for some of our favorite celebs, new and old. This year has HUGE for lots of them, with big movie roles and headlining tours and much more going on in their lives. With Top 5 Biggest Moments, we’ll break down the top five moments of our fave’s lives this year! So sit back, relax and enjoy what we think their biggest and brightest moments were in 2011!Ready to take a look at Taylor’s biggest moments in 2011?

1. His Bromantic Kiss with his Costar Rob at the MTV Movie Awards Okay, so maybe it was a bit of a surprise to Taylor at first, but it was some of the hottest gossip in June once it happened. These two are totally goofy together and, to be completely honest, that “kiss” was probably the funniest thing to happen to either of them all year. It’s definitely memorable!

2. Starring in AbductionHe wasn’t a werewolf in this flick, but we loved the character change anyway! Taylor definitely proved his acting chops by going outside of the wolfy role that we totally love. This film was action-packed and simply incredible. We loved seeing Taylor try something different.

3. Getting His Hand Prints added to Grauman’s Chinese Theater

Last month, Taylor and his Twilight costars got to immortalize their hand prints alongside those of some of Hollywood’s finest actors! It sounds like a pretty big honor and Taylor’s grin in all of the pics from that day is evidence that he was feeling pretty excited about it, too!

I'm sure that by now you have heard all about The indiExhibit's partnership with VH1's "Save the Music Foundation" for the 2011 American Music Awards. If not, here is a bit of a recap.

The indiExhibit teamed up with VH1's "Save the Music Foundation" and donated a skateboard deck, designed by indiExhibit member and rep, Kerry Rockwood White of KRW Designs, for celebrities to sign as they visited our table at the AMA Gift Lounge. There are over 25 signatures on the board, including Lil Jon, Soulja Boy, Jojo, Brooke Hogan, and more. Chaske plays wolfpack leader Sam Uley in the Twilight series. Sarah McIntyre found out how the actor prepared for the demanding role and what fans can expect from the latest installment in the franchise.

How did your acting career begin?
Chaske Spencer: It began when I moved here to New York City and I was cast in a movie called Skins, which was by Chris Eyre and since then it's just been a steady, slow climb to being a working actor. It's been definitely a weird journey!

Is it true that you dropped out of your first semester in college and literally went to New York with a hundred dollars in your back pocket?
That's true, that's very true, yeah. I just had to figure out what I wanted to do in life and I was very desperate to see where I was going, so I moved here, got a one way ticket and that was it.

How did you land your role in Twilight?
The casting director Rene Haynes, who put me in a lot of films, suggested I audition for this and I did. And it was a tough audition. I didn't know what part they wanted me for.

How was it to prepare for the role?
It was pretty intense; the workouts were probably the most intense part. It was a tough process, but you know the results are great. I enjoy working out now!

What was it like going from relatively unknown to actor in such a huge blockbuster?
It took some adjusting but I don't take it too seriously, I think I've been able to adjust to it in a healthy way.

Twilight fans are particularly fervent, but have you had any crazy encounters with fans?
Yes, I've had some incidents where it's been a little too overboard, I won't go into them. Most of the fans are great, in fact 90% of the fans have been wonderful and they've been really supportive and they're just really good people. But there's that other 10% that I think go a little overboard, I think they should probably try to find a healthy outlook on life because it's not reality, Twilight is a fantasy world.

How has your character developed since New Moon?
I think you get to look a little more at Sam and his conflict with the outcome of the marriage between Edward and Bella. I think fans are going to be very happy with the results of the film.

Can you give us any hints of what to expect from Breaking Dawn? I think (director) Bill Condon is going to do an amazing job. If you've seen his previous works Dreamgirls and Gods and Monsters, I think you'll get a little taste of what Breaking Dawn's going to be. It's going to be an epic movie.

What's it like on the set of such a huge movie?
Well, let's say this: one time pretty much the whole cast was going to film that day and we drove into, we called it the Circus Basecamp, and the trailers looked like a small city. I was quite overwhelmed by the amount of space we took up! The make-up trailer, the artists' trailers, the sound trailers - it was huge! I think it really hit me what a huge movie it was, and this wasn't until the end!

What's it like working with Taylor, Rob and Kirsten?
They're really great, they're really down to earth people. They come ready and prepared, they're just wonderful people.

Where would you like to see your career go post-Twilight?
Just keep working. About three or four years ago, I probably never would have imagined myself in Twilight. I didn't know about the books and it took me by surprise when I got the part and I became part of this huge phenomenon. I'm very grateful, but I'm just excited to see where the journey takes me now, I have no clue.

Seventeen: Let’s talk all about Breaking Dawn. How does it feel to be done filming?

Tinsel Korey: It’s been such a crazy ride — such a roller coaster. I’m still friends with everybody, and Bronson and I are working on a movie right now. So hopefully, I’ll be able to work with everybody again. It’s bittersweet that we’re sort of ending that journey and a good thing that we’re starting new ones, too.

17: Awesome. Do you have a favorite off-camera memory from being on the Twilight set?

TK: Probably during New Moon, actually. We went out to dinner with Rob and Kristen and everyone who had just got cast in the wolfpack fight. That never happened again, because after New Moon came out, going anywhere with those guys, was impossible. It was such a beautiful moment to sort of have that dinner and hang out with them before all the fandom went to another level. I just remember having that dinner and being like "Wow, this is going to be something." I didn’t know what it was going to be, but I knew that it was going to be big.

17: We recently had Taylor on our cover. Can you tell us any funny or random things you've learned about him?

TK: He’s really like, the tough testosterone guy — there was so much of it. Taylor was always there playing football and stuff like that. And one time he shoved as many pieces of gum as he could in his mouth, and he took it out and was showcasing it like it was Picasso piece! We were like, "Take that and put that on Ebay or something." We were joking about it, but I’m probably sure that there’s a fan out there that would have bought it.

17: What did you do during your down time on set??

TK: We would make fun of each other a lot. We’re constantly joking. Pretty much what I say is what you see in the movie is how we are in real life. There’s a lot of teasing and joking around and all that kind of stuff. That’s pretty much what you do — you act like a crazy family. With the boys, there’s so much testosterone, on top of them being on crazy workout regimes, doing pull-ups and push-ups constantly. I remember one time Taylor and Alex had a dance competition!

17: Tell us, what scene are you the most excited to see come to life in this first part of Breaking Dawn?

TK: I think, obviously, the wedding scene because up until now it’s been like Team Jacob or Team Edward, and now she’s picked her team and this is her journey. I’m just really excited to see the wedding and the dress. Actually, they didn’t show it to me. I asked if I could see it and they said "no." It was totally, totally top secret!
